Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating usually occurring in the auxiliary lymph nodes  (underarms) or on the metacarpus (palms of hands) or the plantar aspect (soles of feet). Metacarpus and plantar sweating usually starts in early puberty , whereas auxiliary hyperhidrosis tends to start in late adolescence.

Being a very embarrassing condition it has had other effects on life’s including romance and business problems and can lead to mental health worries. Physical problems such as not being able to hold a steering wheel or a pen and shaky hand has also been recorded as being problems related to this condition.

Although Hyperhidrosis does occur with some neurologic, endocrine infections and other systemic diseases, most cases are found in perfectly healthy people. Heat and emotions may trigger Hyperhidrosis in some but many may suffer sweating nearly all their waking hours regardless of their mood or the weather.

Botulinum Toxin A has been being used worldwide for the treatment of Hyperhidrosis since 1994, It can be administered by a professionally trained physician using small syringes filled willed the diluted constitution which are superficially injected  in the problematic areas offering 150-200 units per plantar. Botulinum Toxin A results should be present within 14 days, although a follow up may be needed. The treatment can be carried out 6-7 months later. This treatment needs no downtime due to being non-surgical and patients can expect to go straight back to their day after treatment. It is usual to exoect some uncomfortableness or pain that can be treated with paracetamol.
